Mystic Roots Foundation

The Mystic Roots Foundation, est June 2024, is a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower Black communities through the recovery and stewardship of ancestral lands. We are dedicated to restoring the legacy of land ownership, cultivating sustainable agricultural practices, and fostering well-being through integrated approaches to health and wellness. The promotion of Black agrarianism, and the advancement of holistic health is our goal.Through a process of reconnecting individuals with their heritage, and nurturing their physical, mental, environmental, and spiritual well being, we aim to build a resilient and thriving future for Black communities.”

Although we are a newly formed nonprofit organization, our for profit organization Mystic Roots, has been working in the field of black agrarianism and holistic health since 2019, and we've been a part of the larger black farming community since 2013. 

The Asase ye duru is an Adinkra symbol (Akan religion, Ghana, Ivory Coast). It means "The (divine) Mother Earth has weight." And represents the importance of the earth for human life. It is a symbol that represents power, providence and divinity. It is a representation of the divinity of Mother Earth as well as the significance of the Earth in the process of sustaining life. The symbol draws attention to the fact that all things are interconnected, as well as the importance of honoring and respecting the natural world. This serves as a timely reminder of the significance of environmental stewardship and sustainability, as well as the part that the Earth plays in supplying us with the resources that are necessary for our survival.
