Nestled within the heart of historic Sapelo Island, Georgia, the Seven Sisters Heritage District will stand as a living tribute to the powerful legacy of Bilali and Phoebe Mohammed and their seven remarkable daughters — Binto, Charlotte, Fatima, Hester, Margaret, Medina, and Yoruba. From these Seven Sisters came the original 33 families of Sapelo, whose descendants continue to honor their lineage and cultural heritage on the island today.
Seven Sisters transforms ancestral land into a self-reinforcing micro-community — culturally grounded, economically vibrant, and ecologically regenerative.
Seven Sisters Heritage District will consist of:
🌿 The Hogg Hummock Community Health & Heritage Center — a beacon of cultural preservation and holistic well-being, blending ancestral herbal knowledge with contemporary healing practices.
🌺 Mystic Roots Health & Wellness Sanctuary (Binto’s Sanctuary) — a tranquil retreat space dedicated to rest, reflection, and sacred balance through yoga, meditation, herbal therapies, and sound healing.
🏡 The Seven Sisters Cottages — eco-inspired guest accommodations that reflect the enduring spirit of the Seven Sisters, offering visitors a serene stay surrounded by the sounds of nature and whispers of history.
🌾 Madina’s Barndominium & Edible Landscape — a working homestead that celebrates self-sufficiency, sustainability, and the island’s tradition of food sovereignty, with fruit trees, medicinal herbs, and heritage crops thriving throughout the grounds.
